Continuing their cozy relationship, Lionbridge Technologies, of Waltham, Mass., and Microsoft, of Redmond, Wash., have signed a new alliance.
Under the pact, Lionbridge's localization technology (such as multi-language content publishing) and services will be available through Microsoft's .NET
(define) enterprise server division.
Specifically, Lionbridge's LionAccess platform has been customized to allow users of Microsoft Content Management Server to create, edit, localize and publish
multilingual content for international markets.
"(With the combination) customers have a powerful solution for building highly dynamic Internet, intranet and extranet Web sites with great localization capabilities,"
said Eric Swift, a Microsoft manager.
The companies said the partnership should reduce the cost of maintaining separate localization and content management systems as well as speed set-up times.
"Lionbridge and Microsoft continue to work closely as we extend and enhance the capabilities of Microsoft Content Management Server," said Rory Cowan,
Lionbridge CEO.
Financial terms of this latest deal were not disclosed.
Last month, Lionbridge landed a contract with Microsoft Great Plains to ready business applications for release in five European countries. Lionbridge will translate
the latest versions of the software giant's eEnterprise and Dynamics into French, German, Spanish, Dutch and Portuguese.
Previously, Lionbridge has done work for other Microsoft units.
